The author is a member of hthe Kiowa Tribe and is also Wichita and Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux. Born in Southern California, he spent time growing up in New Mexico, Kansas, and the Chiloco Inidan School in Oklahoma where his parents, Harold and Augustine worked.
He has a diverse resume and has worked for the State of Oklahoma; Sisseton, South Dakota school district; Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe, University of Oklahoma; Association of American Indian Physicians; and American Inidan Research & Development; and the Federal Inidan Health Service. He currently serves as Community Liaison for the Oklahoma City Inidan Clinic. He has a Masters Degree in education from the University of South Dakota. However, life has taught him more than he can explain.
The short story "Bertha's Cross" was selected for inclusion in a compliation of short stories entitled Writing the Cross Culture: Native Fiction on the White Man's Religion. Edited by James Treat the book has been described as a "collection of fiction pieces by some of the most notable contemporary Native American authors, as well as up-an-coming authors, which explores the interface between Native Ameerican culture and American Christianity."
